The Action. It shall be Sweetened.
August 30, 2008
My dear fellow freaks, much has changed since I last graced you with a heavy dollop of ear sex. I have landed men on the moon, discovered beer flavored ice cream and gotten lost in New York’s Own Chinatown. Graduated College and been banned from ever returning. Almost lost the show twice. Created mind blowing playlists and created playlists while my mind was blown. I have had consensual relations with the blogosphere, and suddenly remembered that I was a tiny part of it, so technically, I was masturbating, BUT IT HAD BEEN SO LONG IT FELT LIKE A STRANGER.
As I, Jerry Danger (aka Sandino Favero) made the rounds across this fine country, getting stoned in photo booths at Coney Island, falling drunk into a flooded lake St. Louis following a visitation of holy magnitude through a Tom Waits Concert, those most faithful of listeners have become better aquainted with Sweet Action’s Own Enrique Chavez.
A pot bellied Brazillian with a brain like a dolphin, Enrique Chavez (aka Punchie Boligero) has been promoted from the occaisional guest DJ (and omnipresent guest) to bona-fide Co-Host. Thats right. Chavez has a preternatural tendency to arrange music on the fly in such a manner that it has been known to cause ass seizures. He holds no loyalty to any genre or barometer of taste, simply a mad genius of noise set loose on the soundboard. And your ear holes are straight in his sights. Anyone seeking any sort of legal retribution on obscenity charges, feel free to contact him on his cell phone: 618-922-7292. If you are seeking proof, please give his most recent playlist a listen:
It’s a phenomenon motherfucker.
No seriously, this shit is fucking legendary like the hidden temple.
Bear witness to the impromptu inebriated sonic sceance known only as Sweet Action.
Playlist to follow in the comments section.

I haven’t listened to it all yet, because my computer is being buggy-
but I recall some Swordfish Trombones Mashed up with GZA (the genius, the voltron head of the Wu)
and I WOULD DIE 4 U by Prince, the song that truly buried morris day and the time in the seminal classic PURPLE RAIN.
Good job Guys.
At long last, last weeks show.
April 2, 2008
Well, the guest DJs did not show, so the show could no longer be entitled “NOT MY FAULT.”
Due to things not going quite as planned, it was not as smooth of a show as I would have liked, but no matter.
This coming Friday, oh my. My younger brother will be making up for lost time, playing some bands that he has introduced me too, or that we both have encountered simultaneously.
So without any further ado,
as usual, we start out with cedric’s rap for jesus- not exactly my style.
The show then starts out Biblical, because we all have the language ingrained in us and its a fun game to play with Cedric’s listeners-
We start out with a tiny taste of Gene Moore, the organist behind the surreal score for Carnival Of Souls.
David Axelrod (the musician/producer, not Obama’s right hand man) keeps the beat religious with The Warnings.
Justice drops some Cecil B. Demille’s Ten Commanments stlye on Genesis Pt. 1
then
Justice remixing Franz Ferdinand being remixed by Simian Mobile Disco breaks us out of the sanctimonious vibe with a finality incomparable.
Dan the Automator (famed producer the Gorillaz debut and Lovage) mixing up some classic Bollywood tracks in Ganges a Go Go
Hot Chip- Shake a Fist (we get stupid in the studio)
Handsome Furs (Members of Wolf Parade/Frog Eyes)- Handsome Furs Hate this City
I talk for a bit, and actually I am being pretty ridiculous here because Sam is putting music to my film and I am just being coy.
Sam West- Electric Chair
Then I blather on while I try to cue things up- scorpions do not commit suicide.
Bonnie Prince Billie covering Bjork’s “I’ve seen it all” frol the Lars Von Trier film Dancer in the Dark
Gutter Twins (Mark Lanegan and Greg Dulli)- Idle Hands
Fuck Buttons- Sweet love for Planet Earth (I am in love with this band right now)
Some NEW TV on the Radio- the B side for Providence
Cut Copy- Going Nowhere
The Acorn- The Flood Pt. I (Touches of late Talking Heads, an immigrant story passed down from the singers mother translated to poetry and music)

SPECIAL GUEST DJS
March 28, 2008
Could also be titled “IT WILL NOT BE MY FAULT”
I think that my brother has come up with a playlist for the Sweet Action Radio Hour! I gave him a certificate for Christmas that entitled him to be a guest of honor on the show. I did this partially because I was hard broke, but also because I figured everyone would like to be able what is played on the radio at some point or another, and he has been the one to turn me on to more than one cool band-
Also I think my friend Scotty is bringing some vinyl to spin later in the night too.
Svelte Sweet Action Sounds Signal Springtime
March 23, 2008
So it was a departure of sorts for the Sweet Action Radio Hour, but as we turn our face to the warmth of the impending springtime, contemplate our moving on as the grass greens and the rain falls I felt like doing something reflective; tender at least compared to the avant garage electro punk we typically blare from the WDBX studio in the wee hours.
But just like Jesus rolls rocks away we rock roll away the undefined time betwixt and between Friday night’s debauchery and Saturday morning’s cartoons same as ever, get a little stupid fresh in the studio and engage in plenty of fabulous fuckups (pardonnez-moi l’francais).
DIG IT CATS AND KITTIES, DIG IT DEEP.
Here is the playlist, which you may need as a roadmap because my shades of sleep deprived confusion cause a conflict between what is actually playing versus what I say is playing:
CEDRIC’S RAP FOR JESUS
PROMO TIME
Elliot Smith covering Because (possibly the greatest Beatles song- discuss)
Tom Waits- You can Never Hold Back Spring
Radiohead- All I Need (The best love song of 2008 goes to… Radiohead?)
MGMT- The Handshake
Vetiver- Been So Long (I am expecting more from this group, I think they are playing ATP this year)
Magnetic Fields covering Heroes by David Bowie (I play this song every other show ever. I checked.)
Sleep Deprived Pronouncement of love for Gabe Gower.
Akron- Ed is A Portal (the coolest party song about someone being a portal EVER)
Animal Collective- We Tigers
Yelling- Looking for Kimya- Scotty Likes Bananas.
Kimya Dawson- I’d Rather Go With Friends Than Go Alone (I really love this song)
Devendra Banhart- A Sight to Behold
Isobell Campbell and Mark Lanegan- Black Mountain
Andrew Bird- Armchairs
Mountain Goats- San Bernadino
First off… Scotty’s Show Idea…”Beats Wheaties”…aromatherapy… announcing the wrong song.
Cat Power covering I Believe in you by Bob Dylan
More Talk.
Destroyer- Libby’s First Sunrise (looks like we dropped a few f-bombs- keep it secret, keep it safe)
Brightblack- Oppression
Bonnie Prince Billie covering Brokedown Palace by the Grateful Dead
Iron & Wine and Calexico- Dead Man’s Will
Low covering Back Home Again by John Denver (out to everyone visiting family for easter)

Me talking to my Roomate.
Junior Parker covering Tomorrow Never Knows
The Dirty Projectors covering Rise Above by Black Flag
Childballads- They Hunt Us We Run
Goodbyes!
Let’s Get Serious for a moment.
March 19, 2008
This I feel is one of the few moments of true victory that Democracy has seen in my lifetime.
Hugo Chavez, president of Venezuela.
This is the story of the attempted coup and destruction of the peoples government early in this decade. The Military High Command, The Corporate Sector, and our own CIA were involved but the people were able to take their country back.
Some Irish film makers were there when this all went down (to do a story about Chavez’s life) and they ended up capturing the entire story first hand at great personal risk.
This is important for everyone to see.
Please make some time and watch this
THE REVOLUTION WILL NOT BE TELEVISED
If you were affected by this, you need to check out The Battle Of Chile.
